Winter can be difficult to stay active and enjoy the outdoors but there are options to still get out.
This past weekend, we rented a forest service cabin and hiked 10 miles in to stay for the weekend. We packed all our supplies on our back and enjoyed getting some activity in. The cabin had a wood burning stove that was great to warm up to after hiking in. We ice-fished on the lake one day and played cards at night.
The hike out was sunny and calm. Finding ways to stay active in the winter is so important in maintaining physical and mental health.
It doesn’t have to be a weekend long getaway at a cabin; it could be a walk to a new park in town with the dogs or a friend. All seasons of life, big and small, look different for physical fitness and it can take some creativity, but that’s what makes it so enjoyable.
