As we sit on the brink of a New Year, may we not be simply “so ready to move on” that we forget the journey that allowed us to come to this present place - where we can move forward to what is next.
We have experienced good and bad and hard and easy.
The good that comes from unexpected growth.
The bad of separation both physically and communal.
The hard lessons of how to re-work and keep going in spite of ever changing challenges.
The ease found in a slower pace.
That being said, a “new year” is simply a mark on the calendar. A designated measure of time. Significant, yes. But powerful in and of itself, no.
We are the ones in control of our use of time.
Our acceptance or rejection of its lessons.
Our possession of the resilience necessary to determine what we want this life and, on a greater scale, how we want this world to be.
So, cheers to the New Year.
We are grateful for the good.
Have learned from the bad.
Will be thankful for the easy.
And remain steadfast through the hard.
