“When a body part has been injured, it requires the pain and labor of physical therapy. But that physical therapy is not punitive; it is intended to bring healing…”
Why is it that injury is somehow a “fault”?
A fault of one’s own.
The fault of an unfair universe.
Injury is simply part of our mortality.
Whether the injury be physical or mental or emotional, no one makes it through this life unscathed.
So, if we take the fault out of injury, we must also take the punishment out of healing.
The shame. The guilt. The negative connotation of “treatment”.
Treatment guides us both through and to healing.
Healing is restoration. Renewal. An equally powerful part of our being (in the context of mortality).
